Cypripedium calceolus: Lady's slipper orchid
Cypripedium calceolus is the largest orchid species in Europe. It is typically found in open woodland on moist calcareous soils. The orchid has a widespread distribution in Europe but in many countries it has become (very) rare and is afforded legal protection.
